Overview:

Our fragmented, siloed, and outdated care system has proven incapable of addressing the acute needs of the rapidly growing number of individuals and families in the depths of crisis related to severe autism.

The speakers will address data on crisis utilization, family experiences, responder challenges, and areas of need, as well as how the development of a full continuum of care for individuals with ASD can address gaps in care to further prevent crisis events.

They will also address practical recommendations for professionals, providers, and caregivers on how to prepare for crisis events, resources within medical settings and in the community, and how to stop the crisis cycle.

Steps for advocacy, program development, and accessing adequate services will be reviewed, along with data on a pilot program in New York State.
